Song, Herb and Federico

The story of Exodus South begins with the chance meeting between the two founders, Song Cho and Herbert Moore, in the highland town of Antigua, Guatemala. Song, riding his Honda Shadow 600 from Washington, DC was headed to Costa Rica while Herb was traveling with a couple of friends in a beat up Toyota 4Runner on the way to Honduras from New York City. Hitting it off almost immediately, they toured around the mountainous regions of Guatemala while swapping stories of adventures and describing the exciting places they had seen and the interesting people they had met during their travels.

While discussing the great feeling of exploring the open roads of Latin America, they came up with the idea to create a motorcycle adventure tour company that captured the same spirit of their own journeys, an experience of true adventure that is challenging yet rewarding to all the senses. It was also important to both of them that the business be a socially consciences company that mobilized it's participants to raise money for important charities. Exodus South was born.

Mexico became the obvious choice to host the trip mainly because of its vast array of landscapes, cultures, food and people and also the country's proximity to the U.S. Both Song and Herb had a lot of experience traveling through Mexico, but it was obvious to them that they needed a partner who knew the country in great detail. Luckily for them they met Federico who lives in the stunning Mexican silver mining town of Zacatecas (one of the stops on our route) where he owns a hotel and a ranch. Originally from Spain, his family has lived in Zacatecas for over 6 generations. On his beloved Kawasaki KLR 650 he logs over 25,000 miles a year riding all over Mexico. It would be very difficult to find anyone who knows the roads and terrain more intimately.

Along with a group of guides, mechanics and medics, we look forward to exploring Mexico with you in June.
